Khamadek, High priest of the Temple of the Sun, was an old man. His weakness and vanity, coupled with the lust of zesta, the High Priestess, had allowed the temple to degenerate to a point where Vardek, Lord Commander of the Army, could openly defy the power of the priesthood.
